Streaming movies and music is the hottest thing in our business today. Streaming movies from Netflix, Hulu or Vudu and music from Rhapsody or Pandora can be done with several products and we can connect and configure any of them for you. And you can run them from your iPhone.
New services from Spotify providing access to 15 million songs, or old favorite Rhapsody with 12 million songs make the old days of carrying around a bunch of CDs, or cassettes if you’re old enough to remember, seem painfully archaic. We used to go on trips with a dozen or so CD’s in a briefcase and have access to 100 songs! You can subscribe to one of these music services for less than the cost of one CD per month and play any songs or albums you like for as long as you like.
Pandora and Last.fm are so-called internet radio sites. Create a radio station, like ‘Bob Dylan’, and these services stream Bob from time to time with a whole lot of music like Bob’s in between. It’s a great way to learn about new artists or be reminded of artists you haven’t heard in a while. Create all the stations you want and when you’re bored with Bob switch to Jay-Z, or the Stones or Rock ‘n Roll Christmas.
Don’t even get me started about the 25,000 internet radio stations. Not stations you create, but actual radio stations all over the world. A Hawaiian station on a rainy Sunday in Oregon is pretty cool. Or a jazz station from Norway with classic jazz and people speaking Norwegian between songs is fun. Or just listen to any station from France to hear people speaking gorgeous French.
Providing movies, TV shows and incredible video archives on TVs, computers, phones and iPads. In fact, it’s causing problems for internet services because video uses so much more bandwidth than music it slows networks down. That’ll get fixed as the pipes are made bigger.
